The Theatrical Arts Education Association (TAEA) is a National Association Serving Middle and High School Teachers, Students and the Arts Community in Canada
Today, the Association has 25 Regional STAR (School Theatrical Arts Recognition)Theatre Festivals operating in 9 different provinces across the country with an online event for those schools that do not have a regional close to home. These regional events in November, December and January link to the Canadian National STAR Theatre Festival – West in Metro Vancouver B.C., Central in Winnipeg MB, South in St. Catharines ON and East in Ottawa, Ontario happening in April and May.
The annual Canadian National Drama Teachers Conference presented in October simultaneously in Vancouver BC, Calgary AB, Saskatoon SK, Toronto ON, Calgary AB, Montreal QC, Victoria BC, Kelowna BC, Rothesay N, Newfoundland and on live zoom, registers over 200 participants from across Canada. They gather to network and learn the latest tools and techniques to bring to their students.
TAEA has affordable ways for students to access pathway portals to advance their training and connect to either a post-secondary theatre institution or an agent or casting director in the industry. They also offer annual short playwriting events that allow successful students to be published internationally and see their scripts produced at the National STAR Festival!
